Renting an apartment for a thermal cure in Luxeuil-les-Bains
A state-covered cure means eighteen days of treatment and three weeks living on the spot. Here is what to know before choosing where to put your suitcase.
Eighteen days of treatment, three weeks of living
A state-covered thermal cure runs for eighteen days of treatment, Monday to Saturday, across three weeks. It is not a holiday and not a weekend break: it is a daily rhythm, early in the morning, for twenty-one days. That changes everything you should want from a place to stay.
In practice, you will not eat out every evening for three weeks. You will shop, cook, do laundry, perhaps have someone to stay at the weekend. A cure let is judged on those things — a kitchen that works, your own washing machine, a decent bed — far more than on its decoration.
What the distance to the baths really changes
This is the first criterion, and it is consistently underestimated. Treatments start early. You will often leave with damp skin and wet hair, including in March and November, when it is five degrees in Luxeuil. Making that walk twice a day, eighteen days running, is not a detail.
Both our apartments are 200 metres from the entrance to the baths, on foot, on level ground. It is the only reason they are let almost exclusively to spa guests.
What a cure let actually needs
In the order that matters, according to the guests themselves:
- A washing machine inside the flat. Swimsuit, towels, robe: you come back with damp laundry every morning. A launderette across town, for three weeks, becomes a daily chore.
- No stairs. A rheumatology cure does not sit well with two floors and no lift. Both our apartments are on the ground floor.
- A real kitchen. Oven, microwave, fridge: enough to get through twenty-one days without spending a fortune on restaurants.
- Quiet. You will be going to bed early, every day.
- Parking. For shopping, and for Sundays, when there is no treatment.
What three weeks cost
With us, between €590 and €810 for the three weeks, depending on the apartment and the season. Linen and towels included, parking included, utilities included. There are no service fees and no platform commission, because there is no platform.

What French health insurance covers
The thermal treatment package and the spa doctor’s fees are covered on prescription, once your fund has approved the cure. Accommodation and travel costs may be added, subject to means testing, as a fixed allowance.
When to book
The 2026 spa season runs from 9 March to 21 November. The busiest months are May, June and September — good weather, long days, and everyone has the same idea. For those months, four to six months ahead is reasonable. In March, April and November, availability lasts much longer and the town is quieter.
Our apartments are also let outside the spa season, for shorter stays.

As soon as the spa confirms your dates. May, June and September fill up first; for those months, booking four to six months ahead is not excessive. At the very start and end of the season, availability lasts much longer.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. The Petit Mistral sleeps up to 3, the Grand Mistral up to 5. Many guests come as a couple, one taking the cure and the other not; some have children or grandchildren to stay for a weekend. The rate does not change with the number of guests.
Do I need a car for a cure in Luxeuil?
Not to reach your treatments: 200 metres on foot separate the apartment from the entrance to the baths, on level ground. A car remains useful for shopping and for getting out of town on Sundays; parking is on site and included.
